Police on Tuesday (Jan 19) nabbed 22,000 fake ballot papers with their votes casted for UNF-TNA-JVP candidate Sarath Fonseka. Senior DIG in charge of Elections, Gamini Navarathne said that the items were found by the police personnel attached to the Pettha police station.
"Police found them while inspecting two suspicious parcels", DIG Navarathne said.
Meanwhile, police sources further said that information have been received on a plan to print 30 million similar ballot papers and distribute them island wide . Investigations are being continued .
